Popular Spy x Family Cosplayers Are Revealed to be Taiwanese Politicians
Three Taiwanese politicians mix politics with anime to make an unforgettable Spy x Family Cosplay.
Because the Forgers are a family somewhat unusual, it’s only natural for the family cosplayers are political figures.
Reddit reports that there are three Spy and Family cosplayers, Anya, and Yor, who made rounds on TikTok for their portrayals of Loid as well as Taiwanese political people. According to a Reddit post, Tseng Wenhseuh is cosplaying Loid. Lai Pin Yu is Yor’s cosplayer, and Huang Jie is Anya. Each character is presented with their weapons The cosplayer for Loid holds newspapers, as the character is a spy who gathers details. Yor’s cosplayer is posing with gold needles and Anya’s cosplayer is wearing a magnifying lens. Tseng and Lai, the couple from real life behind Loid and Yor aren’t posing in anime to fake their wedding.

Tseng is the Miaoli County Councilor and has exposed corruption. Tseng became an independent candidate in the year 2020 and left the New Power Party after a leak of audio revealed that former chairman Huang Guo Chang had criticized Tseng for his talents and believed that he would not be able to win the party by himself. Tseng claimed that the ideals of the NPP were changing drastically and he was unable to remain.
Lai is an active part of the Democratic Progressive Party and is famous for her support of the cosplay and anime industries. Lai was detained in 2014 over protests against the Sunflower Student Movement. The group opposed the trade agreement that was signed between Taiwan and the People’s Republic of China, believing it would increase the vulnerability of Taiwan to China’s influence. Lai, in addition to Yor from Neon Genesis Evangelion, has also cosplayed Asuka Langley Soryu from Sailor Moon and Asuka Langley Soryu from Neon Genesis Evangelion.

Huang Like Tseng was also an NPP member. NPP. Huang is currently the Kaohsiung City councilor. She gained fame for her eyes rolling in a viral clip when Han Kuo Yu, Kaohsiung’s Mayor, Kaohsiung was unable to provide any details about his plans to establish a free economic zone in Kaohsiung. She also provided safety equipment and other assistance for protesters during Hong Kong’s Umbrella Movement of 2014.

Spy x Family, produced by Wit Studio & CloverWorks takes place in the backdrop of an uneasy peace agreement between Westalis and Ostania. The story follows Operation Strix – a mission to stop the war, the super spy Twilight is disguised as Loid Forger and gets married to Yor and then adopts four-year-old Anya. Loid Forger and Yor each have their motives for agreeing to the lies, however, they’ve come to appreciate their “fake family”.
