Rey’s Dark Side Unleashed: Star Wars Enthusiast’s Impressive Empress Cosplay

ZooGirlQ Content Creator explores the darker side of the Force as Empress Rey, now known as Palpatine in amazing Star Wars cosplay photos.

One Star Wars cosplayer shared photos of herself in the role of Empress Palpatine (Rey Skywalker’s dark side character) via social media.

A content creator going under the name ZooGirlQ recently posted photos of her in costume as Dark Rey. “[C]all me.. Empress.” she wrote on Twitter, alongside some stunning images which include the character’s famous double-bladed lightsaber. In a response to a fan that she created the content, the creator said that she was inspired by her cosplay “off fan art by @dazzlingjedi.” The Sith version of Daisy Ridley’s Rey first appears in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker 2019. Rey battles this mirror image of herself on the remains of The Second Death Star.

Ridley first played Rey in the seventh episode of the Skywalker Saga, 2015’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Rey was the primary protagonist in the sequel trilogy. She was also in 2017’s The Last Jedi, and the 2019 film The Rise of Skywalker. Outside of movies, Rey has appeared in several related media, such as video games like LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Star Wars: Battlefront II and animated web series like Star Wars Forces of Destiny.

In The Force Awakens, Rey is revealed as a scavenger taken to Jakku as a young child. When she discovers that she’s Force-sensitive, she is entangled in the resistance’s fight against the First Order. After having been trained to be a Jedi under the tutelage of Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa and defeating Palpatine as well as the First Order in The Rise of Skywalker and then sets out to rebuild the Jedi Order, adopting the title Rey Skywalker.

Although the sequel trilogy actors initially voiced disinterest in the series after The Rise of Skywalker was released they have since reversed their positions. Oscar Isaac, who plays Poe Dameron, recently stated that he would be “open to any idea.” Ridley has also hinted that she’d like to play with a lightsaber, saying at the 2022 BAFTAs, “I’ll always be Rey.” In 2021, she disclosed that she had seen Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy. However, the details of the meeting were not disclosed. Ridley and Rey have not been confirmed to appear in any Star Wars projects.

Lucasfilm has a variety of Star Wars films in development at present. One of them is being developed by Lost co-creator Damon Lindelof. This film is expected to be set after The Rise of Skywalker. The film that Lindelof is working on isn’t the tenth episode of the Skywalker Saga, but instead, the first Star Wars project to explore the post-TROS timeline. Sources have suggested that the film could include characters from the Star Wars sequel trilogy, however, plot details aren’t yet available as Justin Britt-Gibson and Lindelof are still co-writing the script.
